Montgomery Twp. Automated Enforcement Goes Active At Key Intersections

The system is now "fully active," police said.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — The automated red light enforcement system is now "fully active" in Montgomery Township, police announced Tuesday, as key intersections will be closely monitored by the technology.

Violators of the traffic signal will receive citations in the mail if they are affirmed by an officer.

The technology has been deployed on Route 202 northbound and southbound at Horsham Road, as well as Bethlehem Pike northbound and southbound at North Wales Road.

"If a violation is confirmed by an officer, a civil citation will be sent to the vehicle owner," police shared in their announcement. "The violation notice will have instructions on how to pay the citation or request a hearing. Further, the violation notice received will have a section with instructions on how to view images of the vehicle and a video of the violation."

The program has been in the roll-out trial stage for months. Similarly, North Penn School District has been working with local police departments to outfit school bus arms with similar enforcement technology that records key details of offenders.
