LANSDALE, PA — As work to inoculate the public to COVID-19 continues statewide, some local healthcare organizations are putting in a herculean effort.

That includes right here at North Penn High School. For the second week in a row, Skippack Pharmacy vaccinated thousands of local residents at a pop-up clinic. Organizers estimated more than 3,000 were vaccinated Sunday, and roughly 3,000 were vaccinated last weekend.

"The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others," the pharmacy shared. "While the number of vaccines administered in a little over a month is in itself very large, the number of volunteer hours put behind planning & orchestrating these massive immunization clinics for our community in itself is the main story."

Countless employees, health professionals, and volunteers made the clinic happen, organizers said.

Skippack Pharmacy is one of the state's preferred vaccine partners, and has continued to receive doses even as the total number of providers statewide has been reduced. The pharmacy vaccinated individuals on the county's 1A list, as well as individuals who had signed up through the pharmacy's list.

"It was satisfying to see so many community members and hear their stories as they waited safely in lines," shared North Penn School Board Director Jonathan Kassa, who thanked North Penn's school safety and custodian teams for assisting in putting on the clinic.

Kassa said that vaccinations began Sunday morning with some 100 local veterans.

Additionally, State Sen. Maria Collett, who is also a nurse, was on hand and personally administered doses.

Collett said that independent pharmacies like Skippack and Eric's Rx Shoppe, which held its own clinic in Upper Dublin over the weekend, are a "critical resource" in getting the vaccine to seniors and the most vulnerable members of the community.

The pharmacies hope to continue to run pop-up clinics in the county in the future as they receive more doses.
