North Penn YMCA Has New Facebook Page

The North Penn YMCA was founded in 1955, and its new Facebook page was founded April 25, 2013.

The North Penn YMCA recently held a promotion where the first 250 Facebook users received a YMCA package deal. As of the time of this publication, the North Penn YMCA Facebook page has 270 likes and counting. Like other nonprofit organizations, the YMCA uses the social media tool as further outreach to its patrons and the community it serves.

Many of the posts provide fans with updates of local YMCA events, such as the May 18 SKiRT Chaser event, which features a two-mile run and pancake breakfast.

The post describes the event in this fashion:

What’s a SKiRT chaser?
A SKiRT chaser is a FREE fun 2 mile run!
This is what happens at the race:
Ladies purchase hearts at the race.
Ladies then receive a two minute head start.
After the two minute head start, the men start the race.
If a man catches up to a lady, the lady has to give the man one of her hearts.
The man and woman who end the race with the most hearts will receive a FREE pair of running shoes and a YMCA duffle bag!
At the end of the race all participants will receive a FREE pancake breakfast!

According to the post, the event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the 309 Cinema Shopping Center, located at 1210 Bethlehem Pike.
