Possible Swatting 911 Call In Lansdale, Schools Safe: Police

Police said there is no threat to the community or local schools after the incident Tuesday morning.

LANSDALE, PA — A 911 call made about a person carrying a weapon near York Avenue Tuesday morning in Lansdale turned out to be "unsubstantiated" and could have been an attempt to swatting, police said. Swatting involves fake 911 calls made in an attempt to draw significant law activity, often with the goal of wasting resources.

The incident occurred at about 8:36 a.m.

Officers scoured the area and North Penn School District security helped to escort students safely to nearby schools "out of an abundance of caution." But nothing was found.
