Route 309 Connector Project Reaches Key Milestone

The completed stage included 2.3 miles of reconstructed roadway, 1.5 miles of multi-use trail, new signals and intersections, and more.

HATFIELD, PA — The major Route 309 Connector project has reached a key milestone in its ongoing work to transform traffic along a vital and increasingly congested corridor in Montgomery County.

The second of three projects in the five-mile long connector project has now been completed.

The project will connect Route 309 with the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange once complete.

The second section included a new roadway alignment from Allentown Road to Cowpath Road, along with the reconstruction of Township Line Road from Cowpath Road to Hatfield Pike.

It covered around 2.3 miles of work.

All told, five new signalized intersections, noise walls between two roads, and 1.5 miles of multi-use hiking and biking trails were built.

The third and final section of the project is now underway.

A special event celebrating the completion of the second phase will be held on Thursday, August 14 at noon at the intersection of Elroy Road and the newly completed Wambold Road in Souderton. Numerous local legislators and officials will be on hand.
