'Selfless Servant' Shane Wheeler: Lansdale Community Leader
The leader of VMSC Emergency Medical Services is truly an unsung hero.

LANSDALE, PA — Without community leaders, Lansdale Patch wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.
This submission comes from Laura Smith, a Lansdale Patch reader who nominated Shane Wheeler.

What does this community leader do?
He is the Chief/CEO of VMSC Emergency Medical Services.
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
VMSC is our local 911 ambulance service, providing an essential service to our community. VMSC was struggling to survive, struggling to provide essential emergency services. Shane Wheeler was hired as the first career Chief. He charted a new course for VMSC. In the 20 months since he arrived, VMSC has turned 180 degrees, is solvent, and is thriving. And growing. Not only did Chief Wheeler shore up VMSC's foundation, but he also helped VMSC grow. With his wisdom and dedication, he created new jobs while expanding salaries and benefits for the career staff. He is an unsung hero in our community because most do not understand what VMSC does or the peril it faced.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
Chief Wheeler is a selfless community servant--a true first responder. His motivation is community safety, not personal agenda.
