Towamencin Gets $310K For Sumneytown, Forty Foot Road Improvements

Officials are hopeful the work will ease traffic and improve road conditions in the local area.

TOWAMENCIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Towamencin Township has received a major funding boost to improve ten intersections around the area.

A total of ten traffic signals along Sumneytown Pike, Forty Foot Road, and Bustard Road will each receive equipment upgrades.

The $310,520 in funding comes from the state's "Green Light-Go” program that aims to improve safety and mobility across Pennsylvania.

“The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program will help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow and keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Transportation Michael Carroll.

Exact timing for when the work will be done in Towamencin has not yet been announced.

Several other Montgomery County municipalities, including Lower Salford, Lower Gwynedd, Whitemarsh, and Collegeville will each also receive funding through the program this year.
