But then a house fire swept through a Woodland Avenue duplex in Penndel Borough and the children lost everything, police said.

The Middletown Community Foundation is working with several police officers to assist a local family and their children, who lost all their "brand new treasures" that they just picked out the prior weekend.

The heroic actions of a Penndel police officer saved the lives of eight people during a house fire last Thursday morning, the borough's police chief said.

Lower Bucks County fire crews battled a fire on Woodland Avenue at a 2.5-story duplex with heavy fire from one side of the home. Penndel Borough Police Chief Sean Perry said that Police Officer Sean Peck responded to the fire at 4:40 a.m. Thursday and "immediately jumped into action."

"As most of the community has likely heard, a local family with three children lost everything in a house fire," the Middletown Community Foundation said. "We would love to rally behind them and replace some of their belongings, as they left with nothing but the pajamas they had on."

The Foundation was able to purchase all the essentials for the family.

"I’m adding the wish list here — there are tons of ideas on there," police said. "They can come from any store or even very gently used things. The kids would not give any “wants,” so most of those ideas came from the crew of police officers who know them."
