39 Animals Rescued From 'Squalid Conditions' By Bucks Co. SPCA
The Bucks County SPCA said 36 cats and three dogs were found Friday neglected in a Hulmeville home.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Nearly 40 animals have been rescued from "squalid conditions" inside a Lower Bucks County home with the owner expected to face animal cruelty and neglect charges, authorities said.
The Bucks County SPCA, acting on a tip from a concerned resident, on Friday rescued 36 cats and three dogs from a Hulmeville Borough home.
The SPCA said the owner, who was operating a self-styled rescue, will be facing multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect. The SPCA was working over the weekend to trap the seven or more cats remaining on the property.

“These animals have suffered chronic neglect, extremely poor sanitation, and lack of basic vet care. They have a long road ahead of them, but I know our team will do everything in our power to help them recover and find homes where they will no longer be mistreated,” said Linda Reider, BCSPCA executive director. “We remain tireless in our effort to prevent and alleviate animal suffering in Bucks County.”
The three older large-breed dogs are suffering from severe skin infections and fleas. They were all confined in dirty crates inside the home, where every surface was filthy and the ammonia level was very high, officials said.
The 36 cats have skin and upper respiratory infections, missing hair, and fleas. The SPCA's medical team has examined every animal to determine their individual needs. All but one of the cats are adults, the lone kitten was transferred to a foster home within an hour of arriving at the shelter.

The community can help by donating to the BCSPCA Animal Relief Fund which is used to help animals rescued from cruelty and neglect. Interested adopters are encouraged to adopt a currently available cat or dog from our two shelters.
This will free up space and resources to serve the recently rescued animals and other incoming animals who need our help. We are still caring for some of the 53 cats rescued from the Falls Township storage facility in February – thankfully, 42 have already found homes.
