Man Charged With 10 Felonies In Crash That Injured 4 Bucks Teens
Authorities say alcohol was found in the truck driven by a British citizen, who was trying to pass when the head-on crash happened.
LANGHORNE, PA — A citizen of the United Kingdom living in Philadelphia has been charged in his hospital bed with causing a head-on collision Saturday that seriously injured several people, including four Neshaminy High School students.
Shane Brolly, 23, was arraigned Sunday in his hospital bed on a list of felony charges in the crash. He is being held on $1 million bail as authorities, who say police found alcohol in his pickup truck, await results of a blood test.
The crash happened at 10:12 p.m. Saturday near 309 Bridgetown Pike, not far from Playwicki Farm Park. According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Brolly was driving a GMC Sierra north when he tried to pass a 2015 Nissan Murano also headed north.

Doing so, he struck a 2019 Mazda CX5 head-on, according to prosecutors. The Mazda was occupied by four teens who have been identified as girls who attend Neshaminy High School.
The crash, in a no-passing zone, knocked the Mazda back 50 feet and pushed Brolly's truck back into the northbound lane, where it was hit by the Nissan, according to police.

All four teens were seriously injured and taken to hospitals, as were Brolly and his passenger, prosecutors said. Three people in the Murano were treated for injuries at the scene and released.
Brolly was arraigned on five counts each of aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle, all felonies, as well as eight misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person.
Prosecutors say Brolly is not a U.S. citizen and was identified by his United Kingdom driver's license. They say police officers found both opened and unopened containers of alcohol in his truck and smelled alcohol on him.
Investigators are awaiting the results of blood tests.
According to Northampton Township Police, the driver of the Mazda was taken by helicopter to Temple University Hospital.
A fundraiser on GoFundMe identified the teens as four girls who attend Neshaminy High School. It says that they each have undergone surgeries and that more surgeries are planned.
"We are trying to help them and their families handle their pending medical expenses to get them back on their feet," the fundraiser's creator wrote on the page.
As of Monday afternoon, the effort had raised more than $50,000.
Brolly was unable to post 10 percent of $10 million bail. His arraignment took place at his hospital bed, according to prosecutors, and Magisterial District Judge Daniel Finello set his bail.
