Moyer studied at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in Ohio starting in January 2019.
"It was super crazy," Moyer told Action News 6 following his performance. "It feels like you're in the TV box when you stand in front of the judges. It's so surreal, but they're so awesome."
Moyer is the third Neshaminy High School graduate to appear. Former Top 7 Idol contestant Catie Turner had a run as well during the 2018 season. Kevin Murphy, a 2012 graduate, was also a contestant.
"When she was on 'Idol,' I was a junior, and it was her senior year," Moyer told Action News. "We were all rooting for her, obviously."
Once auditions end, Moyer will be among the contestants for the new season of the popular show in which numerous contestants have found fame after he returns to the hit show in the coming weeks.
Among "American Idol" winners and contestants are Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, and Adam Lambert.
