Bristol Riverside Theatre Gets $93K In CARES Funding

BRISTOL, PA — Bristol Riverside Theatre will receive $93,342 as part of $20 million in CARES funding allocated to Pennsylvania cultural organizations.

The theater is among five cultural organizations in Bucks County that received a total of $211,408 in funding through the COVID-19 Cultural and Museum Preservation Grant Program, administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Funds may be used to offset lost revenue for eligible cultural organizations and museums that had to close due to Pennsylvania's coronavirus safety measures when Gov. Tom Wolf declared a disaster emergency on March 6.

Funds may not be used to offset revenue that has already been offset from other sources, including philanthropic and federal, state, and local government sources.

"Pennsylvania's museums and cultural organizations provide education, entertainment, and meaningful experiences to both residents and travelers alike, and the COVID-19 pandemic severely inhibited their ability to fulfill their cultural mission," said Wolf. "This funding will be used to offset the impact the pandemic had on these organizations and will help them move forward in their recovery efforts as they begin to welcome visitors back in their doors."

Now in its 33rd season, Bristol Riverside is an equity theater that, in better times, produces more than 200 performances every year, including five main-stage productions, special events and a summer music festival series.
