BRISTOL, PA — Calm Waters Coffee Roasters, a popular coffee shop on Bristol's Mill Street, announced the opening of a second location back in June.

The coffee shop, located at 242 Mill St., will be opening its new location in Newtown in September. They will be opening their second location at 15 South State St., currently the location for The Coffee Room, which recently announced that they will be selling their Newtown location to the owners of the Bristol coffee shop.

Andrew Dittman, a Newtown native who founded and owns Calm Waters Coffee Roasters with his wife Jodi, talked to Patch about the upcoming location and what led to the purchase of the new spot.

"I have thought about the idea of opening a shop in Newton many times, especially since it’s my hometown," Dittman told Patch via email. "Honestly though, I never thought it would happen."

Dittman said that he has had a great relationship with Margaret and Raj Kumar, the owners of The Coffee Room, and that he did not want to compete with them in Newtown. Then, the Newtown coffee shop owners reached out to him with an offer.

"I was very surprised, but also incredibly honored when she reached out to us about taking over the space," Dittman told Patch.

The new location will give the Dittmans the chance to offer their coffee and other goods to Newtown residents.

"Our location in Newtown will have a very similar offering as we do in Bristol," Dittman said. "This will include all of our classic coffee beverages, [a] monthly special, [an] 'I don’t drink coffee' menu, and a variety of local pastries."

While Andrew and Jodi want to expand their clientele to other parts of Bucks County, Andrew says that the Newtown location will be the only addition to the coffee shop's business.

"We would love to keep sharing Calm Waters with more people, but we don’t have any plans for more locations," Dittman said.

The ownership of Calm Waters has made the Dittman family a mainstay in the Bucks County independent business world. When asked what the best thing about being an independent business owner in the Bucks County area was, Dittman told Patch that it has been "employing such amazing people."

"Over the years it’s been such a privilege to work alongside so many great people! Watching everyone, including myself, grow personally and professionally in our time at work has been such a gift. As a team, we have created such a positive work environment, and I really believe that flows over into the experience you get when you walk into Calm Waters."

The Bristol location will continue to offer its services as normal. All updates from the company can be found on their official website.

"We put a lot of work into crafting a coffee experience that we are proud of," Dittman said. "We hope you enjoy it!"
