Comcast Will Equip Bucks Homeless Shelter With Free WiFi
The company hopes to help those in the shelter access high speed internet for education, research, job training, and more.
BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — Comcast has announced it will equip the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter in Bristol Township with a new WiFi system, free of charge.
The Philadelphia-based company is launching one of its "Lift Zones" at the shelter, to help shelter users with education, research, job training, and more. The "Lift Zone" initiative aims to connect low income people with reliable Internet — the company hopes to launch more than 1,000 of the zones over multiple years.
“Last year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we served 396 people, including 130 children, at the shelter," Family Service Association CEO Julie Dees said in an article by Levittown Now. "The pandemic made our shelter’s daily operations significantly more challenging for the individuals and families we serve, but that is why we are so grateful to Comcast for their help equipping our shelter as a Lift Zone."
