Langhorne Child-Abduction Rumors Are Overblown: Police

Middletown Township Police responded to a call in Penncrest, but say there was no attempt to abduct or lure a child.

MIDDLETOWN, PA — Police say online reports of a child abduction attempt in Langhorne over the weekend are not accurate.

Middletown Township Police took to Facebook to respond to what they described as information circulating on social media about an attempted child abduction Saturday in the Penncrest neighborhood.

Police said they received a call of a suspicious vehicle in an area where a child was walking. According to the call, a man got out of the car and appeared to be walking toward the child before getting back into the car and driving away.

According to police, nothing was said to the child, there was no physical contact made and there was no attempt to lure or abduct the child.

"This person's intention(s) are unknown and there was no actual attempt to abduct anyone," Middletown Police said in the post. "We are investigating the incident and we will have increased patrols in Penncrest and surrounding sections over the next week or two."
