'Last Ride' For Longtime Langhorne-Middletown Fire Member
John Scheetz, a former Langhorne councilman, had a final request before he died: A last fire truck ride through Langhorne.

LANGHORNE, PA —The Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company is sending off a longtime department member who died last month with a "last ride" on Saturday.
Life Member John Scheetz, who died last month, will have his "last ride" starting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the fire company said.
Scheetz —a life member, trustee, and past president of the fire company —died after a long battle with cancer in early December.

His final service request was to have a last fire truck ride through Langhorne.
"John outlived every diagnosis and was proud to live out his life under his terms," the fire company said. "John's wishes were for a living funeral which happened last year. In typical John fashion, he had his wake while he was alive."

On Saturday, the fire company will pull out of the fire company at 1:30, making a left on Richardson Avenue, a left on Route 413, a left on Winchester Avenue, a left on Bellevue Avenue., and a left on Maple Avenue.
The ride will briefly stop in front of the Borough Hall and then return to the station.
"It is John's family's wish that anyone available please join us on the route with an American flag , if you have one, to pay respect to John's service as both a first responder as well as past Borough Councilman," the fire company said. "Our thoughts continue to remain with John's family and we would be honored for you to join us on Saturday."
