Man Receives 17 To 34 Year Prison Sentence After Bristol Shooting

BRISTOL, PA — A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 17 to 34 years for the 2019 shooting of a man at Bristol Township basketball park.

Taariq Alfons Norris, 26, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and other charges in August. He took the guilty plea halfway through his jury trial.

Norris was also sentenced for aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, persons not to possess a firearm, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of an instrument of crime. Theses other charges added to the amount of years he was sentenced to.

Norris' crime occurred in March of 2019, after he and another suspect shot a man multiple times at a basketball park located on the 1200 block of Marie Lowe Drive in Bristol; the victim also has a firearm and shot back at his assailants, hitting Norris in the process.

The victim was hospitalized for several weeks, but survived the attack.

Common Pleas Judge C. Theodore Fritsch sentenced Norris on Friday, Nov. 12. Norris was ordered to also pay a $1,758.82 restitution to the Pennsylvania Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
