Rescue Prompts Hours-Long Closure On PA Turnpike Bridge
Lower Bucks County authorities helped bring the man down safely from the top of the turnpike bridge over the Delaware River on Monday night.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A man who threatened to jump off the Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge was rescued on Monday night without incident, authorities said.
The Edgely Fire Company in Levittown and multiple law enforcement and emergency agencies responded Monday night to the bridge over the Delaware River for the report of a man on the top of the bridge.
Fire officials said the man was brought down from the bridge safely. The unidentified man was taken into police custody.

The bridge was closed in both directions for most of Monday night, authorities said. The bridge was first closed just after 7:30 p.m. Monday.
