Bucks County Youth Workforce Center’s (YWC) highly successful high school equivalency (GED) and workforce services program has been operational for more than 20 years and has successfully served over 600 individuals. Youth ages 16-24 have access to FREE classes designed to help them earn their GED, if they need one. If youth already have a high school diploma, the YWC can assist in exploring careers and mapping out a career pathway, writing a resume, practicing interview skills, gaining paid-work experience, transitioning to post-secondary training/education, and/or securing a job.
A high school equivalency (GED) will open doors that would otherwise be closed without one. Instructors guide each student through the entire GED preparation and testing process. Along with academic support, instructors provide encouragement and, most importantly, instill confidence! The YWC covers all fees related to achieving the GED including texts, online resources, study materials and testing fees. Several supportive services to enable youth to pursue a GED are available as are achievement incentives. In addition to in-person classes, the YWC currently offers virtual instruction.

Youth in the YWC gain access to FREE certificate trainings designed to get them working in high-paying careers and/or to continue to earn an Associate’s degree with Bucks County Community College (BCCC).
A recent YWC youth earned her GED at the beginning of 2020, went on to enroll in and graduate from BCCC’s Center for Workforce Development’s Pre-Apprenticeship Metalwork Training program. She is now using that training in a job in which she earns $40,000 with exceptional benefits.
