The competition was open to all school choirs in the designated Philly listening area. There are two divisions: The Kindergarten through 8th-grade Division and the 9th through 12th-grade Division.
The K-8 Division winner and semifinalists in the 9-12 Division, sponsored by Verizon, were expected to be announced on air after the K-8 Division winner was revealed on Friday.
First-place winners in both the K-8 division and the high school division will have their choir's song featured on B101 throughout the holiday season and the school's music program will win a cash prize of $5,000. In addition, the choirs will be invited to perform their winning song during the Philly Pops: A Philly Holiday Spectacular on Sunday, Dec. 14.
The schools will also receive tickets to enjoy the show before and after their performances. The choirs will also be recognized at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra - The Ghosts of Christmas Eve concert on Dec. 21.
Second-place winners in each division will receive a $2,000 cash prize, and third-prize winners receive a $1,000 cash prize - all to benefit their school's music programs.
