New Playground Planned At Kirby Park In Falls
The new play equipment, which cost nearly $100,000, is expected to be installed by the end of the year.
FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — Kids who visit Kirby Park in Falls Township will have new playground equipment by the end of the year.
Falls supervisors on Tuesday approved the purchase of a new play unit, with an accessible ramp, for the park. The new equipment will cost just under $100,000 and the company providing it, MRC Inc., has offered to install it at no cost.
Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews said if the township had to pay for installation, it would have roughly doubled the cost. Even though the labor will be done at no cost, it will still be under full warranty, according to Andrews.

The park’s current playground is 21 years old, Andrews said. He’s undertaken a recent evaluation of the park system and determined that many of Falls Township's playgrounds are approaching the 15 to 20-year range.
By upgrading and replacing old equipment, Andrews said, the township will be making the playgrounds safer. Andrews said he hopes to upgrade one or two playgrounds every year.

"It’s going to be a constant upkeep," Andrews said.
