The construction involves replacing an outdated bridge that connects Bristol and Bensalem townships, police said.

The bridge work is part of a larger, $1 billion modernization project to widen and overhaul a segment of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Bensalem Boulevard to the I-95 flyover connection.

The project includes expanding the turnpike from four to six lanes, constructing new sound barriers, upgrading stormwater management facilities, and preparing for future highway connection ramps.
