MIDDLETOWN, PA — Police on Tuesday continued to investigate a deadly hit-and-run that shut down Rt. 1 in Bucks County on Monday morning.

Late Monday night, police identified the victim in the crash as 29-year-old Alexandra Ridgway.

Family members say they don't know why Ridgway would have been walking on or alongside the highway before 3:30 a.m. on Monday.

Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said she was hit "numerous times" by several vehicles traveling southbound on Rt. 1. None of them stopped, he said.

In a post on fundraising site GoFundMe, Ridgway's brother, Michael Egan, said she had dealt with mental health issues.

Middletown Police said they have followed several leads in the case in an investigation that has taken them to both Philadelphia and Montgomery County.

In Philadelphia, multiple sources, including NBC10, were reporting that a woman's arm was found on the side of the road there later Monday morning. The arm was found along the 8800 block of Pine Road; investigators have not publicly said how they believe the body part got there.

Officers were called at 3:26 a.m. Monday to the scene of the crash near Neshaminy High School.

Traffic in both directions on Rt. 1 was shut down for all of Monday morning as police investigated. The lanes were not re-opened until about noon.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at 215-750-3800 or 215-949-1000.

The fundraiser, which Egan wrote was to help pay funeral expenses for Ridgway, had raised $7,735 of a $5,000 goal as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.
