Uptown String Band Finishes 4th In Mummers Parade
The Langhorne-based Uptown String Band is Bucks County's only Mummers organization. They performed in Philly on New Year's Day.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The Uptown String Band's performance in the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia on New Year's Day was one for the ages.
Bucks County's only Mummers organization had a strong showing according to judges, finishing fourth among 14 string bands participating in the annual Philly parade.
Not only did the string band finish fourth, but it's captain took second place.

"This is the best prize the band has earned since our 1994 show of ‘Deep in the Heart of Texas,'" the Uptown String Band said in a Facebook post.
This year's performance was called "Boardwalk FantaSea." Set in Coney Island, the Uptown String Band said the performance was filled with nostalgia, summer fun, and classic Americana vibes.

Kade Radcliffe finished second among the Top 5 string band captains.
Calling themselves "The Pride of Bucks County," the Langhorne-based annual participant in the Philadelphia Mummers Parade is a fully volunteer organization with nearly 200 members and a history dating back to 1937.

The Uptown String Band performs at functions in Bucks County and surrounding areas throughout the year. They've appeared on the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J., and even at weddings. They recently performed at the Newtown Holiday Parade.
