According to one of the concert organizers, Chuck Kupferschmidt, the first concert in the three concert series took place on March 15th and raised $1,200 for Project Outreach.

Concerts for a Cause has two goals.

โ€œOur first goal is to bring the community together to share in the gift of music,โ€ stated Kupferschmidt, a retiree from Merck. โ€œThe second goal is to raise funds for a local charity, in this case we have chosen to support Project Outreach.โ€

Project Outreach is a cooperative ministry of 27 Christian churches in the Spring-Ford area which provides community outreach emergency assistance services and programs for those in need.

โ€œIts important to remember,โ€ Kupferschmidt stated, โ€œ100% of the money donated at each concert goes to Project Outreach!โ€

All concerts begin at 7:30 PM and will be held at RUMC, located at 380 Church Street, Royersford.

The final concert in the series is a Celtic Concert by musician Charlie Zahm, and will take placed on April 26th. Zahm, who lives in Chester County, is a highly respected Celtic performer. Each year he performs over 100 concerts up and down the East Coast, from Virginia to Nova Scotia. He will be joined on stage by renowned fiddler Tad Marks, who formally played with the Del McCurry Band.

โ€œThis Celtic concert is a great anchor to this community concert series,โ€ Kupferschmidt offered with a sense of pride. โ€œCharlie is a very talented guy with an expansive Celtic repertoire. Heโ€™s released something like 28 CDs โ€” I think that speaks for itself!โ€

Concerts for a Cause has a website (sfconcerts.org) that includes information about the concert series and the performers. There are video clips of each act on the website, and there is also a map showing where nearby public parking is located.

Organizers are encouraging everyone who plans on driving to the concerts to consult the parking map on the website. The lots and spaces identified on the map are all a short walk to the church.

โ€œOur church is located in a residential neighborhood in which the residents depend upon street parking,โ€ Rev. McIntire stated. โ€œSo, we are trying to be good neighbors by asking everyone who attends to walk, if they can. For those driving, we ask they park their cars in lots and spaces illustrated on the map.โ€
