Cult Films At The Colonial Theatre In February 2016

Including a film that some consider the "poster child" for cult cinema.

Tremors

A dusty, isolated Western town. Fearful locals. And the mysterious underground creatures that eat them. Add Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward and what do you have? A delicious horror film that is both fun and funny. Director Ron Underwood’s 1990 sleeper spawned no fewer than four direct-to-video sequels, but it reigns supreme in the genre of horror films set in a dusty, isolated Western town populated by fearful locals and the creatures that eat them. Rated PG-13. 96 min. Tasty 35mm presentation.

Legend

Tim Curry as a campy Lord of Darkness. Trolls, goblins, and unicorns. And Tom Cruise as the young nature boy who must fight them to restore light to the world. (Well, not the unicorns.) Ridley Scott’s 1985 fantasy may be the poster child for cult film. His first feature-length effort following the underappreciated (at the time) Blade Runner, it is
often excessive but always entertaining (in that cult film way). Rated PG. 94 min. Screened in timeless 35mm.
