Limerick Fire Crews Rescued A Driver Whose Vehicle Sunk Into An Icy Pond
The motorist is said to have miraculously survived after driving his vehicle into an icy pond in Limerick Township.
LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — A driver who had to be rescued Sunday after his vehicle sunk into an icy pond miraculously survived the ordeal despite the sub-freezing temperatures.
The Limerick Fire Department said that crews were dispatched Sunday just before 11:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that had broken through the ice in a local pond.
Water and ice rescue personnel, along with Limerick Township police officers, had to use an inflatable boat to assist in removing the driver from the vehicle, according to the fire department.

The driver was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and ice recue members assisted in helping a towing company remove the vehicle from the pond.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Limerick Township Police Department.

It was reported by CBS Philly that the driver, who was reportedly described as an elderly man, had gotten lost on a golf cart path and ended up being trapped inside his stalled Jeep while the icy water slowly began to cause the vehicle to sink.
CBS Philly reported that the man was trapped in about 10 feet of water for more than six hours.
