Limerick Community Park Improvement Project Moving Ahead

Township supervisors anticipate the improvements will be completed this summer.

LIMERICK, PA — Limerick Township supervisors voted Tuesday to move ahead with a $1.3 million improvement project at the Limerick Community Park, 180 Swamp Road.

Dan Kerr, township manager, said the township has received matching grants from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The park is expected to be completed in about approximately three and a half months.

The work will be performed by township public works employees and contractors.

Supervisor Michael M. McCloskey voted against the project because the playground was removed from the original project. He questioned if the pickleball courts are necessary.

“Is pickleball trendy?” McCloskey asked. “We don’t live in Florida.”

Supervisor Kara Shuler said there is an interest in the community to have pickleball courts.
