Obituary: Paul L. Buckwalter, 88

Born in Trappe; enjoyed collecting antique tractors; July 10

Paul L. Buckwalter, age 88, husband of Catherine E. (Sollenberger) Buckwalter, formerly of Birdsboro, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 10, 2012 in the Frederick Living Community where he resided for the past 20 years. Born in Trappe, PA he was a son of the late Harvey and Naomi (Lehman) Buckwalter. 

Mr. Buckwalter was a member of the New Life Bible Fellowship in Oley, PA. He was the former owner of Paul L. Buckwalter & Sons Excavating Company in Birdsboro. Mr. Buckwalter was a supporter of The Gideons International, enjoyed traveling, and was a collector of antique tractors.   He was a kind and thoughtful man who enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife of 68 years, Mr. Buckwalter is survived by five daughters, Elaine, wife of the Rev. Robert Ritter of Stanford, KY, Loraine, wife of Rexen Francis of Leesport, Pauline, wife of John Bean of Fleetwood, Barbara, wife of Jaime Sanchez of Birdsboro, and Debbie, wife of David Henninger of Harleysville; two sons, Eugene, husband of Denise Buckwalter of Birdsboro and Dwight, husband of Betsy Buckwalter of Birdsboro; three sisters, Arlene, wife of the late Harry Van Riper, Esther, wife of Nelson Wingert, and Beulah, wife of Galen Oakes; one brother Ray, husband of Ruth Virginia Buckwalter; eighteen grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Buckwalter was predeceased by an infant son, Lane Buckwalter, and daughter-in-law Lori (Nelson) Buckwalter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the New Life Bible Fellowship Church, 2960 West Philadelphia Avenue, Oley, PA 19547 on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Art Simpson and the Rev. Robert Ritter. Burial will follow in the Perkiomen Valley Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Collegeville. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00-11:00 AM.
