PennHurst Asylum A Very Scary Outing In Spring City This Season
The abandoned PennHurst property reopened after decades of silence, and tours of the old institution are a creepy exploration for adults.
SPRING CITY, PA β It's no ordinary haunted house exhibit with rubber monsters jumping out of closets: PennHust Asylum in Spring City taps deep fear in a dramatization of the very, very scary.
Or is it a dramatization?
Attractions include the Max Security Wing, housing the criminally insane, the Morgue, where blood draining and cremation are "services" offered, and Containment, a research lab where inhumane experimenters are "still accepting patients."

The PennHurst Asylum makes claim to being "Pennsylvaniaβs scariest destination haunted house." The PennHurst site makes clear that this is not a Halloween attraction for children, and they don't permit visitors under 10. PennHurst Asylum says it is "geared for a much older crowd."
If you're older than 12 and up for another attraction, overnight Paranormal Investigations of the grounds happen between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.

The Asylum is open Fridays and Saturdays through October. Masks must be worn by all customers and all staff, at all times, the PennHurst Asylum website states.
