Royersford Elementary Reopens; Was Shut Down Monday After Break-In
A break-in at Royersford Elementary led to the school being shut down on Monday.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Royersford Elementary School reopened on Tuesday after it was shut down on Monday due to an overnight break-in, police and school officials confirmed.
Details on the break-in, and what exactly occurred during it, remain murky. The school said they have identified the suspects, and that they're working with the Royersford Police Department on the ongoing investigation.
"While we cannot share specific details of the incident, please rest assured that the school is safe for reopening," Spring Ford Superintendent Robert Rizzo wrote in a letter sent home to the school community.

The Royersford Police Department acknowledged the situation and shared Rizzo's communication "in an attempt to ease the nerves of all families and surrounding residents," but did not expound on exactly what had occurred.
Law enforcement investigated at the school throughout the day on Monday, and Spring-Ford maintenance crews and elementary school staff were on scene cleaning up.

Rizzo added further that teachers would not address the break-in or the Monday school closure in class discussions, "but will be prepared to respond to individual student questions with care and sensitivity."
Rizzo and Royersford Elementary Principal Teresa Carboy praised the unity and resilience of the larger school community in responding to the incident.
"I am incredibly proud of how we come together to support one another,” Carboy added in a letter sent home to parents.
It's not the first incident related to vandalism at a local school this month. Upper Moreland Elementary was spray-painted with hateful graffiti, including Nazi swastikas, last week. One teenager has since been arrested.
