Royersford Community Mourns The Death Of Firefighter Michael Lessar From COVID-19
Michael Lessar, long employed in the fire services field, leaves behind a wife and son. He passed away this week from COVID-19.

ROYERSFORD, PA — The firefighter and paramedic who died this week from complications related to COVID-19 left behind a wife and son, according to colleagues.
Michael Lessar, 51, passed away Monday after coming down with COVID-19.
On Tuesday afternoon, units with the Royersford Fire Department transported Lessar's body from Pottstown Hospital to the Sanders Funeral Home in Reading, Berks County.

Lessar was a resident of Pike Township in Berks County.
"Words cannot convey our gratitude to the agencies who assisted with this assignment and lined the route with apparatus as a show of respect," the Royersford Fire Department said in a post on its Facebook page.

It was unclear whether Lessar was vaccinated against COVID-19.
"We aren't releasing his vaccination records due to it being private protected information which we do not have a release for," Lenny Brown, a public information officer with the Royersford Fire Department, said in a statement to Patch.
According to the fire department, Lessar joined the RFD in 2018 on a part-time basis but later become one of the first full-time members in the department's history.
A story in the Daily Times says that Lessar spent the majority of his 24-year firefighting career with the Reading Fire Department. He then briefly worked as the fire chief in Pottstown, Montgomery County.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been released. Brown said Lessar's family is in the process of working on an obituary and that it would be released upon completion.
