Spring City Officially Introduces New Police Chief

Mayor Michael Weiss formally introduced new police chief Arthur Brown at Monday evening's council meeting. Brown fills the vacancy left by the.
Brown was present at the meeting to be introduced. He was sworn in on Sept. 19 and will begin serving as police chief on Oct. 19. He was selected from among 28 resumes received by the borough, and chosen by borough manager Dennis Rittenhouse and Councilmen Donald Shaner and Thomas Kratz, representing the borough's police committee.
Brown, a veteran police officer, has served in various offices in Chester County since 1975, according to a e-mail written by Councilman Michael Hays and .

Weiss told Patch that Brown had an "outstanding resume," and Council President Louis DiGuiseppe added that "as deep as we could dig, there were no skeletons in his [Brown's] closet."
DiGuiseppe explained that having Rittenhouse, Shaner and Kratz review resumes and select a candidate resulted in the search costing the taxpayers nothing.

Weiss also introduced new full-time officer Brandon Unruh. Unruh, who was previously a part-time officer with the borough, was promoted to full-time status on Sept. 22.
