Woman Charged With DUI After Crashing Into Royersford Streetlamp

An officer on Main Street witnessed the crash into the ornamental streetlamp, police said.

ROYESRFORD, PA — A Royersford woman has been charged with driving under the influence after an accident earlier in the spring, police announced this week.

The incident occurred back on May 25 at around 10:23 p.m.

Tanaka Gumbochuma, 29, was headed down Main Street near Lewis Avenue when she crashed into an ornamental streetlight, police said.

An officer witnessed the crash and saw all airbags deployed in her car, according to authorities.

Gumbochuma's eyes were bloodshot and glassy and there was an odor of alcohol as the officer approached, police said.

She could not complete a field sobriety test and was arrested.

She was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility while being processed before being released.

A preliminary hearing is pending.
