LOWER MORELAND, PA — Police in Lower Moreland have charged a 19-year-old Bucks County woman with possessing alcohol and with accidents involving death or personal injury after she reportedly drove her vehicle into a trench back in April.

The Lower Moreland Police Department said that they arrested Jaime Morales Guevara, of Doylestown, Pa., after an accident that occurred this past spring.

Police said that back on April 22 they had been dispatched to the area of Washington Lane and Terwood Road for a report of a vehicle crash, and after they arrived at the scene they found that a gray Honda Civic sedan was found at the bottom of a trench on Washington Lane.

Police said that Washington Lane has been closed to vehicle traffic between Terwood Road and Welsh Road for a bridge replacement that began back in March.

During the day of the accident, officers found the Honda to be unoccupied and locked, and that they found both opened alcoholic beverages along with an unopened alcohol bottle in the rear seating area of the car.

Officer said they were initially unable to make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, which ultimately had to be towed from the scene due to extensive damage from the accident.

Later that same day, however, officers said they received information about two people who had arrived at the Washington Lane construction site inquiring about the Honda.

Officers responded to the location and found the two individuals walking along Washington Lane in the area of Grasshopper Road, according to a police report.

The driver of the vehicle was subsequently identified as Morales.

Police ultimately determined that both individuals were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, that they failed to report the incident, and that they were underage and possession of alcohol, according to the police report.

Court records show that a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Morales on July 11 before Magisterial District Judge Jay S. Friedenberg.

The passenger was not named by police and it was unclear whether he or she would be facing any charges in connection with the incident.
