High School Senior Rewarded for 'Passion for Helping Others'

Lower Moreland senior Sara Murphy received the Student of the Month award for February.

Lower Moreland senior Sara Murphy was presented a certificate from Superintendent Dr. Marykay Feeley for being February's Student of the Month.

"Sara happens to be the captain of our cheerleading squad at the high school and is also an active member in the Buddy Program," Dr. Feeley said. "She's the type of person that faces everyday with a smile, and is happy to help in any way that she can.

"Most recently, Sara assisted in choreography in several of the dances in our Lip Sinc, and participated in half of the night's performances. Additionally, she has taken on the majority of the planning and preparation for both this year and last year's Ultimate Challenge. Her dedication to supporting worthy causes is evident by her willingness to stay late, after practice, make phone calls to businesses, and make flyers and assist with the organization of information.

"Although she's quiet, she's very hard working, motivated, and an all-around good person with a passion for helping others."

Senior David Lakata was also presented with a Student of the Month award for the boys.
