Lower Moreland Among Top High Schools In PA: U.S. News

The rankings evaluated schools from around the country on college preparedness, helping underserved communities, AP classes, and more.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — Lower Moreland High School has been named one of the top high schools in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The 2025-2026 Best High School Rankings, released Tuesday, evaluated nearly 24,000 public high schools from around the nation, and ranked some 18,000 of them.

Lower Moreland was ranked 27th overall in Pennsylvania, out of the 741 that were evaluated.

That was good enough for fifth in Montgomery County, trailing only Lower Merion, Harriton, Wissahickon, and Plymouth-Whitemarsh high schools.

Schools were evaluated on how effectively they serve all students, including underserved populations, with college readiness specifically measured through student participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.

The rankings consider curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes as well. U.S. News worked with RTI International, a global research firm, to implement the comprehensive ranking methodology, using the most current data from the 2022-2023 school year.

A total of 15 Montgomery County schools placed in the top 100 statewide, out of the 741 that were evaluated. Here's how they stacked up:
