Canine Units are often self-supported and may rely on outside funding to help with operating costs. Many times, the K9 dogs live with their handlers, but those that stay at a police department require housing and round-the-clock care, and costs can often creep up.
The Kermit stuffed toys currently up for sale come complete with a police collar, a LMPD K9 Unit patch, and a grey vest — "just like K9 Kermit!" the department stated in a Facebook post.
