More Community Events Eyed in Lower Moreland

The Community Events Board is looking to expand the number of events it hosts in the township.

The Lower Moreland Board of Commissioners recently voted to approve a new Community Events Board that will consist of seven members.

Commissioners dissolved the former Lower Moreland Township Recreation Board and renamed it the Community Events Board, which will be β€œresponsible for recreation events within Lower Moreland Township.”

Lower Moreland Township Vice President Jill Blumhardt made the announcement to appoint the following people:

  • Janet Lutter
  • Megan Keaton
  • Kurt J. Mayer
  • Dan Heller
  • Anthony Gioia
  • Jill Blumhardt

Each member will elect its own chairperson and secretary. The committee will meet on the third Monday every quarter.

The Community Events Board hosted Spring Egg Hunt this past Saturday, and Blumhardt said she hopes the newly appointed members will come up with more events in the future.

β€œPersonally, I would like to see the events expanded this year to include a Summer Movie Night and an event at the Grand Opening of the New Field/Park later this year,” Blumhardt said.Β β€œI would also like to bring back the Fourth of July parade in the near future…as early as 2014.

β€œThese events help promote community building and I am enjoying seeing my husband and kids help out … It is my mission to build upon what we have and make it better,” Blumhardt added.
