Police Are Warning Pennypack Trail Visitors To Keep Valuables Safe After Vehicle Break-In

LOWER MORELAND, PA β€” Local police are urging park-goers to stay vigilant after a report recently of a Pennypack Trail visitor having had belongings stolen from their parked vehicle while they were using the recreational path in this eastern Montgomery County town.

Lower Moreland Police said that they received a report on April 4 that a victim had belongings stolen from their vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot for the Pennypack Trail on the 2600 block of Creek Road.

The victim said they returned to their parked vehicle about two hours after their walk to discover that there were items missing from inside.

The victim realized that the door to their vehicle had been unlocked for the duration of their walk, and when they returned to the vehicle, they discovered that cash and debit and credit cards had been stolen.

Whoever stole the cards attempted to use them at two different locations in the Philadelphia area at some point following the theft, police stated. The exact retail locations were not provided by police.

Police are urging anyone who uses the Pennypack Trail to remember to lock and secure their vehicles while they are out on the recreational trail.

Detectives in Lower Moreland Township are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect who stole items out of the victim's vehicle back on April 4.
