The Business Times analysis was strictly based on scores, and did not include other metrics sometimes used in similar school rankings, like AP scores, college outcomes, safety, culture and diversity, sports and clubs, and more. While the analysis does provide one window in student performance, it is not a holistic consideration and comparison of every district.

Seven of Montgomery County's 23 districts ranked in the top 50 statewide, while 12 were in the top 100. Nearly 500 districts were surveyed on the list, which included nearly every single district statewide.
