WORCESTER, PA β€” The Methacton School Board is expected to vote Wednesday on a new school director to replace a former board member who resigned last month.

The school board is scheduled to take a vote at its Wednesday meeting on a candidate to replace former school director Greg Young, who submitted his notice of resignation to the district on Oct. 10.

The school board accepted Young's resignation during its Oct. 25 voting meeting.

"Mr. Young resigned due to challenges related to his professional and personal schedule," Amanda Kelly, coordinator of school and community information for the Methacton School District, wrote in an email to Patch.

School district records show that the notice to the public regarding the vacancy was posted on Oct. 12, two days after Young's resignation.

Interested candidates had to Oct. 24 by which to apply for the seat.

The school board selected its top three candidates on Oct. 28 and the panel is expected to choose a replacement during Wednesday's special meeting.

According to the district, Young's term on the board would have expired in 2025 if he had stayed on as a school director.

An online bio says that Young is a global IT and business leader with more than two decades' worth of experience leading global teams.

He is also a father of four children who attend the Methacton School District.

"Greg has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn foundational skills in technology and business through the leadership of mentors that energized him to succeed," his school district bio reads. "He developed a leadership style and desire to give back that will serve Methacton well as it prepares our children for 21st century challenges. Greg believes that with the right guidance anything is possible and wants all children in the district to feel and believe the limitless potential when dreaming of their own futures."

Young, a Republican, was just elected to the school board during last November's election.
