Police: Pink Pistol and Simple Assault at Audubon Beauty School

The Star Academy was the site of a physical confrontation between classmates.

According to Lower Providence Police (LPP), LPP was dispatched to the Star Academy, located at 2501 Monroe Blvd. in Audubon, on July 28 at 2:08 p.m.

The LPP report, prepared by officer Michael Nastasi, stated that a suspect displayed a pink handgun to a victim in the Star Academy parking lot. The report further stated that the suspect was last seen leaving the parking lot in a brown Acura.

Upon arrival, Nastasi found the reported victim inside the Star Academy lobby with other people, although they did not witness the incident. According to the report, the victim was visibly upset.

The victim, a Star Academy student, told Nastasi that she and another Star Academy student had been having difficult interactions during and in-between classes. This student, identified as Angel Cook, 29, of Norristown, had followed the victim outside the school on the day of the incident.

According to the report, the victim walked to her vehicle, which was parked directly next to Cook’s vehicle. Upon entering her vehicle, the victim looked to her right and saw that Cook was in the driver’s side of her vehicle, allegedly holding a pink handgun in her left hand, while looking at her and allegedly saying threatening words.

According to the report, the gun was pointed at the ceiling of Cook’s vehicle during the exchange.

The victim then told police that she exited her vehicle and walked back to the main entrance of the school, when Cook reportedly confronted the victim.

According to the police report, the victim claimed that Cook threatened her physically, but did not display the previously observed handgun.

At the conclusion of the incident, the report states that Cook left the parking lot.

Star Academy officials obliged LPP with surveillance footage and further cooperation.

A criminal complaint was completed, charging Cook with carrying a loaded weapon, simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, which was sent to the on-call magisterial district justice with a request for a warrant for Cook’s arrest.

Also, at the time of the report, Cook was not listed as having a permit to carry a firearm per the PA state Police Gun Liscnece.

The warrant was issued by District Justice Christopher Cerski at 11:29 a.m. on July 29. According to the report, by 2:15 p.m., Norristown Police Department had Cook in custody, who was reportedly both compliant and cooperative.

Cook is reported to have a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar, with a set cash bail of $10,000.
