Skyview Home/School Seeks a New Board

Methacton's middle school is seeking new officers for coming school year.

As students from Audubon, Arrowhead, Woodland, Eagleville and Worcester elementary schools begin to look toward Skyview, so too are their parents. It is a big step to leave behind elementary school and head to the great unknown.

One team that helps make that transition more comfortable is the Skyview Home and School Association (HSA).

The Skyview HSA is currently seeking candidates to be nominated for the 2013-14 HSA Executive Board. The only requirements to gain a Board position are that you have a child entering fifth or sixth grade at Skyview in the Fall of 2013.

Positions available are, according to a message sent home to parents, include President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary.

Nominations will be accepted as follows:

  • Nominations must be submitted via email to Jennie Noble
  • Must be received by a Thursday, Aprl 11 meeting held at 9:30 a.m.
  • Only written nominations sent via email will be accepted.

Outgoing president Shawna Rondeau said the election process is critical to the Association's success next year.

"This is an entirely new board coming into the 2013-14 school year," said Rondeau. "It is imperative that we fill the positions to form a new board. Volunteers willing to take on the duties are highly encouraged to act now."

Rondeau said, in a note sent home to parents, that any delay in electing a new board will impact the coming school year.

"Without immediate consideration, the Skyview Home and School Assocaition cannot proceed with programs and school funding in the 2013 School Year," she said. "Please consider joining the board."

The outgoing president said it is worth the time given to the district.

"It is a very rewarding experience that keeps you in the loop at the fifth and sixth grade levels," said Rondeau. "You can make a difference. Kids at this age need these programs. Consider being a part of the development of 800+ students."

She said that the outgoing board will be "happy to assist" with the transition of a new board. If anyone has questions about the roles up for election, they are asked to email sarglobal@ymail.com.
