Univest Appoints Skippack Resident as CEO

Jeffrey Schweizer, current Univest Bank and Trust Co. senior executive vice president and chief financial an operating officer, will assume the post of chief executive officer (CEO) on Jan. 1, 2014.

Schweitzer will replace William S. Aichele, who has served as chairman, president and CEO of the company since 1990.

“Continuity in management fosters harmony and unity, helping to build upon Univest’s traditions while actively pursuing innovation to build our business and meet the needs of our employees, customers, shareholders and communities,” said Aichele.  “At Univest, we take succession planning very seriously.  I had tremendous mentors who shepherded me at Univest and it has been a pleasure to have the same opportunity to share my experiences with Jeff for almost six years.”

Prior to joining Univest in 2007, Schweitzer spent 12 years at Ernst & Young, LLP, where he specialized in banking.
