BCCC Announces Bachelor's Degree Completion Program

Starting in 2016, Bucks graduates can take DelVal courses at the college's Newtown campus.

Delaware Valley University and Bucks County Community College have signed an agreement that allows Bucks graduates to take DelVal courses at the college’s Newtown campus to earn bachelor’s degrees, officials from both institutions announced this week.

The agreement was revealed at a signing ceremony at the community college’s Newtown Campus.

“The new Bachelor’s Degree Completion Agreement gives Bucks students the chance to finish the final years of a baccalaureate degree in business administration, counseling psychology, criminal justice, or media and communication at the college’s Newtown campus. To be eligible, students must have earned an associate degree from Bucks and meet the minimum grade-point-average required for admission into their specific academic program,” the community college announced in a press release.

Tuition will be $425 per credit, a reduced partnership rate that is less than DelVal’s on-campus tuition. There are no additional fees. What’s more, Bucks students will be able to transfer up to 72 credits to DelVal, or 12 additional credits beyond an associate degree, further saving on tuition costs. The program is slated to begin in fall 2016.

“The expansion of our partnership with Bucks County Community College reflects Delaware Valley University’s commitment to being a major resource for education and training in Bucks County,” said DelVal President Dr. Joseph Brosnan. “As the county’s two leading institutions of higher education, it makes sense for us to continue to collaborate in order to provide quality education and seamless pathways for our area residents who wish to earn bachelor’s degrees.”

“At Bucks, more than 70 percent of our graduates transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree,” said Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt, Bucks president. “This partnership with DelVal will provide a convenient path for many of our graduates to continue their studies beyond the associate degree right here in Newtown.”
