BCCC To Host Open House, Chili Cook-Off

The Fall Open House will be held Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Newtown Campus. Registration is requested.

Bucks County Community College will host an open house for prospective students and their families on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The open house, to be held in Tyler Hall on the Newtown Campus, will feature a chili cook-off competition among culinary students.

Representatives from seven academic departments, which offers nearly 80 majors leading to either a two-year associate degree or shorter-term certificate, will be available for questions and information.

“We’re very pleased that our open houses have been so well-received,” said Marlene Barlow, the college’s director of admissions. “We’ve had more than 400 students and parents attend each event, and the feedback from the public has been very positive.”

Students who attend BCCC transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree, while others directly enter the workforce to launch a career, college officials explained.

Courses can be taken at the original campus in Newtown, the Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, the Lower Bucks Campus in Bristol, and online through the college’s award-winning “virtual campus.”

The Fall Open House takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 17, on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown. Admission is free, but registration is requested. For information or to register, visitwww.bucks.edu/admissions/events, call 215-968-8112 or e-mail admissionsevents@bucks.edu.
