LANGHORNE, PA —The Neshaminy School District filled its Region 1 school director position during a special school board meeting Tuesday night.

Carlos Rodriguez, a 15-year Feasterville resident, was chosen over two other candidates to fill the post through December 2023 in a 6-2 board vote. He replaces board member Stephen Linden.

Rodriguez was then sworn in by Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Denise Bowman.

"I'm confident I would be an excellent addition and eager to work alongside all of you," Rodriguez told the board during candidate presentations. "This will not be an easy task but I am capable of accepting the challenge."

Rodriguez, who serves as a director of security for a college, said his daughter attends middle school. He believed his "in-depth knowledge of interaction with school administration, parents, and students" would be beneficial.

He also cited the district's mission statement, saying it was his duty to ensure that current and future students have the necessary skills to become productive members of society and receive the best education possible while also keeping children safe.

At its Sept. 13 meeting, the board approved a procedure to fill the post with candidates appearing before the board to answer questions. Candidates had submitted a resume and letter of intent.

School Board President John Allen, who did not vote for Rodriguez, thank the three "very impressive candidates."

School Board Vice Tina Hollenbach, who asked each candidate if they would run for future office, agreed.

"I thank the three of you for coming out," she said. "I've done this twice now and never had this many people come out. I hope you will consider running because there could potentially be two seats open."

Feasterville resident Tricia Loehrig, whose daughter goes to school in the district, received a second nomination.

The family practice physician of 19 years in Northeast Philadelphia told the board that her mother taught her a "sense of responsibility to your community."

"I want my daughter to have a lot of options," she said. "I want Neshaminy to stay the school district that it is."

Joshua Feinberg also received a nomination, but not a second one, ending his candidacy.

Feinberg, a Langhorne resident, said his time as director of student services for a Philadelphia charter school would help him assist in the school district's growth.

He said he has two children in the school district and attends school board meetings on a regular basis.

"My goals would be having the best interests of students first and how would everything would impact taxpayers," he said.
