The decision was made against an appeal by Manheim Township School District, who refused to provide bus service to a student’s father’s home, despite the fact that the student spent half of his time with his father, according to the report.

Manheim said they should only have to provide service to the home of the mother, because her address was the address on file for the student, the report states. Both homes were within the school district’s boundaries, according to the report.

Critics of the decision argued that it would cost the taxpayers money, and the case should have been left to the legislature, according to the report.
