$1.7 M Awarded To Malvern Area For Infrastructure Projects

The state grants are for projects ranging from rehabilitating water pump stations to road widening and other improvements.

MALVERN, PA —Nearly $1.7 million was awarded for infrastructure upgrades in the Malvern area, state Rep. Kristine Howard, D-Chester, announced Monday.

“I am beyond grateful that these grants have been awarded,” said Howard, a Chester County Democrat representing D-167. “The state dollars going toward these projects shows that Pennsylvania is committed to improving all four corners of the commonwealth.”

The district covers Malvern borough, and Charlestown, East Whiteland, West Pikeland, West Whiteland, West Vincent and East Caln townships.

The grant funding includes:

  • $963,945: West Whiteland Township to complete Phase 2 of the Clover Mill Pump Station rehabilitation project;
  • $250,000: West Vincent Township to construct passive recreation areas at Opalanie Park;
  • $177,417: Charlestown Township to relocate and install new crosswalks, pedestrian signals, and sidewalks at the intersection of PA 29 with Yellow Springs Road and Warner Lane;
  • $ 177,975: West Pikeland Township to purchase a 2023 Ford F-600 Series truck outfitted with a dump body and a plow;
  • $86,960: West Pikeland Township to demolish a house and construct a pavilion at Pine Creek Park; and
  • $ 54,005: West Pikeland Township to purchase a new 2022 Ford Expedition for the township’s police department.
